The Prince of Wales Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in South America
The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in Brazil next month, as announced by palace sources.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a event preceding the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.
The royal pair were participating in the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the British authorities.
Environmental Advocacy Commitment
The King has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the climate conference.
Royal sources have described William's involvement at the next COP as stepping up an important role in "global climate discussions".
Previous Activities
The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were introduced to participants featuring conservation experts, scientists, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.
This participation involved presentations in concert with French leader Macron of France and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.
Environmental Prize Link
The UN meeting will coincide with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in the Brazilian city the day before he joins the COP summit on the sixth of November.
In recent days the royal figure described the Earthshot finalists as "modern-day pioneers".
Royal Climate Legacy
The King has been a influential participant at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the existential threats facing us over global warming, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed delegates.
